The life of a change agent is never easy. They are often misunderstood even though they work hard to bring about change particularly positive change in a negatively charged environment. Change agents are usually disliked, well, that is until the change they are working on happens and then they are superstars. It’s not until the new system works that change agents are respected and accepted. Change agents more often than not stand alone. They are usually isolated even though it appears that they are popular. Change agents care deeply about people – it is why they do what they do. This is difficult at times because the people they are working to help are the very ones trying to pull them down, derail them and make life difficult for them.
Change agents are special people. They can carry tremendous burdens and motivate themselves in extremely difficult circumstances. This does not mean that they feel no emotion nor are they immune to the negativity around and about them. They feel strong emotions and often internalize those. They are used to being strong – it’s the only choice they have. They are solution driven and see possibilities where there seem to be none. They are creative thinkers and are usually switched on 100% of the time. They do not think outside of the box. That is because the box does not even exist. Change agents aren’t afraid to take risks, nor are they afraid of the consequences of those risks; that’s because they don’t take random risks – they take calculated ones. They seem to be controlling but the truth is, what you see is not control. What you see is a process mind always at work, thinking about the next step, move or decision. What you see is a human giving their best while trying to protect themselves from the abuse and negativity hurled towards them. They are vulnerable beings with kind hearts and spirits who realize not everyone will understand the heart of them. They understand that there are some who would try to exploit their skills and talents and for this reason they have high walls.
Change agents are usually loners. Why? Because many people do not understand them. They operate with excellence, have high standards and have expectations of those around them. They are a rare lot. They are giving, loving, caring and extremely loyal to the few people who are fortunate enough to be in their handful of trusted friends; people who embrace their gifting, support and encourage them and who do not try to take advantage of them.
Today I speak to the change agents out there. DO NOT GIVE UP ON YOU! You are a special type of leader. Do not allow the happenings of life and the world to sabotage you. Stay focused! YOU ARE UNIQUE, UNCOMMON and YOU WERE BORN TO IMPACT THE WORLD. When you feel all alone, discouraged, beaten down, low and seem to be operating in a hopeless land – stand firm! Mark time if you must but NEVER GIVE UP ON YOU! Embrace your gifting and talents and remember this – YOUR GIFTING IS PRECIOUS, YOUR TALENT IS GOD GIVEN and YOUR PURPOSE is greater than you. Forge on and impact your world. Fiercely face your disappointments, fears and discouragement and let them know YOU WERE NOT BUILT TO BREAK YOU WERE DESIGNED CONQUER. It’s why God chose you.
